Vodafone’s tackling loneliness campaign
WPI Strategy worked with Vodafone to launch their latest report, entitled ‘Harnessing technology to tackle loneliness‘. The report looked at how new innovative health technology products, such as Vodafone’s V-SOS wristband, could help reduce loneliness in over-50s.
For the first time ever, the report quantified the cost of chronic loneliness to the UK economy. The research found that loneliness costs the UK economy £1.8bn a year, with a £1bn coming out of public services expenditure. The report demonstrated that through increased social prescribing of new innovative products, these costs could be reduced over time and the blight of chronic loneliness reduced.
The Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, launched the report in the House of Commons along with Vodafone Chief Executive, Nick Jeffery and Loneliness Minister Mims Davies.
